WebSphere 8.5: How to install or update applications by adding them to a monitored directory

This post describes how to install or update an application in a WebSphere 8.5 stand-alone server by adding the application package to a monitored directory.

Use the admin console to enable deployment via monitored directory.

Console > Applications > Global Deployment Settings > Enable “Monitor directory to automatically deploy applications”

Restart the application server.

WebSphere will create the directory monitoredDeployableApps/servers/<server-name>. Place the application EAR in this directory and WebSphere will automatically detect and install it.
